¹³A particularly simple experiment was conducted by Rossi and Hall (1941), who compared the population of cosmic-ray-produced muons at the top of a mountain to that observed at sea level. The difference in their measurements can be easily explained through the time dilation effect: the fast moving muons were decaying much slower than if they were at rest with respect to the experimenters.
