Mimicry is derived from the Greek term mimetikos, “imitative,” in turn from mimetos, the verbal adjective of mimeisthai, “to imitate.” Ilinx is the Greek word for “whirlpool”, which is taken to mean “vertigo” or “the pursuit of vertigo” in this context.
