Free Radical Project Proposal: In addition to exploring the topics outlined in my artist statement in greater detail I intend to use a series of case studies to illustrate current democratic trends taking place in the arena of voluntary collaborative content production. I will also conduct video interviews with people on what I see to be the three sides of the collaborative content production equation: voluntary contributors (I want to suggest the name free radicals), moderators, and for-profit entities. This content will be made available in raw form on the web in both mp3 and iPod compatible H.264 with an edited version to follow which will be dependent on the shape the search takes and the issues participants are most vocal on. Together these interviews will create a revealing picture of the strengths, weaknesses, possibilities, and concerns of those actively participating in this emerging creative culture.
